What is Ram Expansion – Virtual RAM, RAM Expansion, and the like are features that function to be able to allocate some storage media as virtual RAM to be able to store/become a container for applications that are running but the application is not being used or not currently running.
What is Ram Expansion
RAM stands for Random Access Memory, a component in electronic devices, in this case a smartphone whose function is almost similar to storage. It’s just that if, RAM actually has a faster speed than storage, so this component is suitable for being able to run, process, or launch an application quickly and smoothly. Before being stored in the RAM section, various system files and applications on the phone itself, including files with the operating system (OS), are stored right in the device’s internal memory.
If there is no virtual RAM, the system will load applications that the user wants to run from the phone. The process of opening this application usually takes a few seconds or even minutes, especially if the application has not been stored in this part of RAM or virtual RAM. Virtual RAM itself is usually used on an emergency basis, which means it will function when the system detects that the RAM is unable or has objected to supporting the performance of the cellphone. Even in such a way, it does not mean that virtual RAM is not important for mobile phones. As mentioned above, the presence of virtual RAM is quite useful so that the cellphone can load various applications that have been prepared in it, if the RAM capacity is full. Without virtual RAM, this task will be a burden on the RAM, and of course it will affect the performance of the cellphone when we are opening or running an application.
