The user tags the song for 10 seconds and the app creates an audio fingerprint.

If it finds a match, it sends information such as artist, song title, and album back to the user. Some implementations of Shazam incorporate relevant links to services such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, or Groove Music.
