Fundamentally, when an application is able to access data from a piece of hardware, the application first calls a function that can be implemented by the operating system itself. After the operating system is successful in reading the message, the operating system will then automatically call a function that can be implemented by a driver. This driver then uses binary code to command the hardware which will carry out the commands given by the operating system and retrieve data performed by a hardware device. Likewise, in the next stage the operating system provides data to an application to be able to work. This type of driver is a driver that may be commonly found, called a “device driver”.
